Xk3y firmware V1.12 Updated to remove Asian language restrictions!

Here came a updated news from xk3y.com that xkey Firmware v1.12 without language restrictions arrived.That's to say,the  Asian Language lock removed and the users who bought the asian version x360key before,now dont have any limited to change into English verison any more.Cheers !

Posted on December 26th 2011 When xk3y was first launched we produced an OEM version for one of our Chinese partners. This version was locked down to a few Asian language to promote sales in Asia and discourage resellers to export the OEM version to other regions. Sadly, some unscrupulous resellers still sold the OEM version to other regions, leaving end users with xk3y devices that would only display Asian languages on the remote.

We have always stressed that this is an OEM version and not something we support, as we do not offer it for sale. When these issues first surfaced, we discontinued the OEM deal and has since only supplied the standard version. However, in the interest of consumers who have received the OEM version we have decided to remove all language restrictions in the firmware, starting with version 1.12.

How to Update firmware V1.12

First you need download the latest firmware from : http://www.digitopz.com/cheap-x360key-for-xbox-360-p-819.html

1. Extract the three files "rootfs", "uImage" & "xkey.cfg"

2. Open xkey.cfg with Notepad and configure it if needed.
2.1 Add the three files to the root folder of a Flash Drive or HDD. (Make sure to "eject" the drive properly from the PC, it may otherwise cause corrupt files)

3. Connect the Flash drive or HDD to your xk3y remote and wait for the xk3y to start the update.
3.1 The remote OLED will now display "UPDATING - PLEASE WAIT" for about 35 seconds. (Do not turn off your XB360 or disconnect the remote while updating)

4. Once the update is completed, the OLED will display "UPDATE COMPLETE - RESET XBOX" Reboot your xbox and the xk3y should now be updated to the latest firmware.

5. That's it! Continue to enjoy using xk3y with the new features!

NOTE! If you use the same drive as you store games on to do the update with, then its recommended (not needed) to remove the "rootfs", "uImage" & "xkey.cfg" from the root of your drive after a firmware update. Since keeping them there will cause the xk3y to check the files if they are a newer firmware version then stored on your xk3y micro SD card, and because of that take longer time for your HDD to be recognized.

How to Update Xk3y/X360key/Xkey Firmware to V1.11

Here have two pieces of news about x360key,Maybe you have known them,anyway,i still post here for sharing :

1.International Verison of Xkey is available for ages.That's to say,now xk3y with Multi language supportiong is on the market.

2.Xk3y firmware has been updated to V1.11,this time firmware update added more features.I have quoted from official for sharing :

- Added support for static IPs
- Added support for Unecrypted & WEP WLANs
- Added more languages

- Improved disk profiling code
- Added "No Profile Data" message
- Added more game profiles

Following is a guide how on to use V1.11 firmware :

1. Open your Xbox 360 and extract the drivekey from your ODD. (dummy.bin for SLIM and firmware.bin for FAT)

2. Included with the xk3y is a MicroSD card, on this SD card there is two files "rootfs" & "uImage" (DO NOT FORMAT the MicroSD card!)
2.1 add the extracted drivekey file to the MicroSD card. (make sure you right click and eject your card from the PC, otherwise you may corrupt the files)

3. Place the MicroSD card in the MicroSD slot located on the xk3y Main Board.

4. Connect the xk3y main board between your Xbox360 main board and DVD drive (connecting to the DVD drive is not a requirement, but to use pass-through mode and play games from disc its a must)

Cable layout is as follow.

SATA: Original SATA cable from Xbox main board to (J3) on XK main board.
SATA: Included SATA cable from from Xbox DVD drive to (J2) XK main board.
POWER: Original Power cable from Xbox main board to (P2) on XK main board.
POWER: Included Power cable from Xbox DVD Drive to (P1) on XK main board.
USB: Connect MicroUSB cable from (J4) on XK main board to XK Remote.

Boot Modes

1. Drive Emulation: Start XB360 by pressing the Main Power Switch.
2. isoMenu mode: Start XB360 by pressing the Main Power Switch and the eject to load the isoMenu (read isoMenu.txt for more details)
3. Pass Through: Start XB360 by pressing the Eject button. This will make your XB360 start up in normal mode and let you play game from your original Disc Drive.

How to play games

1. Use any USB drive/hdd media device formatted in NTFS or other supported file formats.
3. Create a folder called "games" in the root of the HDD.
3.1 In the games folder create any folder structure you like.
For example, "games>sports" "games>action"
4. Take your favorite .ISO files and drop them in any folder inside the games folder structure.
5. Enjoy xk3y!

Its also possible to have several HDD devices connected via a powered USB HUB. xk3y will automatically detect all drives and you can then select from the xk3y remote which HDD to use.

IMPORTANT INFO for AP25/XGD3 protected games. (Requires xk3y firmware 1.02 or up)

For all XGD3 games (GoW3, Driver, WarHammer 40K, etc.) it is necessary to put the corresponding "dae.bin" file (that matches your dash board version) in the /games directory. This file can change whenever MS release a Dash update but there is no need to repatch/reburn games, just replace the dae.bin."
